Dental crowns & caps

Dental Caps & Crowns.webp.png

Your teeth may get damaged due to various reasons, such as biting anything hard, tooth decay, trauma, or others. As a result, they lose their shape and size and affect your appearance and functionality. You may opt for dental crowns or caps as a restorative treatment.

Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that we place on your chipped, cracked, or broken teeth. They act like a snug hat for your teeth, thus restoring their shape, size, appearance, and strength. We cement them into place, and they cover the visible portion of your teeth.

Why Do I Need a Dental Crown?

  • A dental crown may be required to restore broken or worn-down teeth.

  • We also use a crown to hold other restorations like a dental bridge in place.

  • You may opt for this procedure to cover your misshapen teeth.

  • Dental crowns may also be required after the procedures like dental implant and root canal.

What Does the Procedure Include?

During your first visit, we will carry out your dental examination to check the overall condition of your teeth. It involves taking an X-ray of your teeth and bone. We may perform a root canal surgery if you are suffering from an infection, tooth decay, or injured tooth pulp and then continue with the preparation of the crown.

We will file your teeth receiving dental crowns from the top and sides to create space for the crown to fit properly. After filing and reshaping your teeth, we will make impressions and send them to the dental lab for the preparation of the crown. Your permanent crowns take 2-3 weeks to complete. In the meantime, we may place temporary dental crowns on the site of the procedure.

During your second consultation, we will remove the temporary crowns and check the fit and color of the permanent ones. We will use a numbing agent and then cement the crowns in place.

What are Same-Day Dental Crowns?

When you opt for same-day dental crowns, you do not have to wait for 2-3 weeks for your permanent restorations. These crowns are made on the same day of your appointment. The process is the same as that of dental crowns. We remove the decay and then shape your teeth so that the crowns fit comfortably. Same-day crowns use CAD-CAM technology for the preparation of the dental crowns. A 3D model of your teeth is created using digital software, after which a ceramic dental crown is created and cemented on your teeth. The creation of this crown takes 15 minutes to complete.
